Welcome to my Job Search page
Here are some of the better Sites that I use to look for Fire & EMS related jobs.
Disclaimer - Some of these sites may have Fee based portions, but every site has a section of useful information available to you for free.
Also - I am in no way, shape or form afiliated with anyone of thse sites, nor do I stand to gain or profit from your use of these sites. They are simply my collection of resources offered for your use.
O.K. - Before we get into the search pages and whatnot - I have to tell you about this great site I heard about. It's called www.EatStress.com. It was created by Captian Bob Smith. Among the great resources on his web site there are literally hundreds of tips and pointers for all phases of Fire/EMS interview & testing. Everything from Physical Agility to sample Oral Board questions. If you've been ranking close to the top in testing but just can't quite get that last little "oomph" to put you into your dream job, then you owe it to yourself to check out his site.
America's Job Bank Search Engine - Main Page. A Nationwide Database searchable by Occupation, Keyword, Military Code, or Job Posting Number. This is the site I use most - check it EVERY week.
My suggestion:
- Use Keyword Search
- Click the MORE LOCATION OPTIONS Button and fill in the location info as desired.
- From here you can search or click the MORE REFINEMENT OPTIONS button - this will let you specify Full vs. Part time work and a salary range.
Some Hints from my experience:
- Keywords that work - paramedic, emt, firefighter AND 'fire fighter' (Note the single quotes - you MUST put these if you want the search engine to treat multipul words as one phrase.)
- If your like me and search for all 3, then be sure to select the ANY radio button instead of ALL or you won't find much).
- Do NOT seperate words with commas - just spaces.
- BEST HINT ! - Create youself an accout here !! For one thing it's FREE and for another - once you have an account here - you can create a search, save it, have it run automaticly at a user defined time interval and then it will e-mail you the results !! It's like having an agent out looking for jobs for you !!
NationJob Network
Very similar to AJB above - Including the ability to create a free account. I have seen some good hits on the keywords Firefighter and Paramedic however the more complex searches with several keywords is tricky to figure out.
Monster.com I have found a few Fire Fighter Jobs here - No luck With EMT or Medic Jobs yet - but it never hurts to look. Ya never know.
USA Jobs - If your into Civilian Sector Military work, THIS is the page for you.
This link is to the Alphabetical Index of Jobs by Title.
CareerPath.com - Here's another site I have used. It recently underwent a format change and now searches through an online database as well as online News Paper clasified Ad's all from one search screen
This is a great change from it's previous format. And there have been several listings each time I have looked.
These sites are specificly for Nurses & Medics looking for Fixed Wing & Rotary transport positions.
Flight Web - Classified Ads
National Flight Paramedics Association - Employment Center
Firehouse Magazine - More commenly known as Firehouse.com. Employment Message Forrum Even if you don't find a job listing here - stick around and read some of the other forums. Theres lots of information to be found here.
Nursing Net EMT & Paramedic Employment Board - This message board is a great resource exchange and ocasionally you WILL find a posting for a job opening - but it's mostly full of postings of Souls like you and me who are looking for work. Still - it's worth your time to look at it.
Emergency Medical Care Inc. - A Canadian site. Credit Derrick McNeil via E-mail.
Memphis Fire Dept Unoffical Site - with Links & Info. Credit Larry Boothby MFD via Message Board.
Well - thats all the sites I have.
If you know of any other good sites then e-mail me the URL and any hints and information and I'll add it to here & credit you as the source. E-mail me at n2dfire@hotmail.com
Well - to all my fellow Brother and Sister Fire & EMS persons - I wish you good luck in your job hunt.
Stay Safe out there & come back to visit soon !!
